A Perfect 48 Hours in Warrnambool

A weekend itinerary with food, sights, and relaxation, looking for the perfect weekend escape? Warrnambool is the ultimate coastal retreat.

Full of stunning beaches, great food, and relaxed seaside charm. Whether you’re here for adventure, coffee, or quiet coastal walks, here’s how to make the most of 48 hours in Warrnambool.

Day One: Settle In & Explore the Coast

Warrnambool’s Foreshore is great to explore, watch a sunset and grab some yummy brekky.

Arrive in Warrnambool and breathe in that fresh sea air. Drop your bags at your accommodation (check out Warrnambool Retreat for your perfect getaway) and head straight for the Foreshore Promenade, a scenic trail that stretches from the breakwater to Logans Beach. Keep an eye out - you might spot a whale between June and September!

Don’t forget to grab a coffee and a snack from the local The Beach Kiosk while you enjoy your stroll. Located on Pertibe Road, you can’t miss it - it’s where all the locals will be!

For lunch, grab something casual at Pavilion Café overlooking the ocean or head back into the centre and grab something delish at ToTo Town Warrnambool Cafe - you can’t go wrong.

In the afternoon, explore Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and take a step back in time to Warrnambool’s shipwreck history.

As the sun sets, wander along the bridge near Middle Island and Stingray Bay or drive up to Thunder Point Lookout for breathtaking views.

Finish the evening with dinner at The Lost Cat, amazing local flavours with an ever-changing menu (make sure to book).

Another one of our favs is the Dart & Marlin, their stone-baked pizza is fantastic, or try their homemade pasta. They have a great cocktail and wine list and a cute courtyard out the back for those warm nights.

If you want to continue the evening, walk around the block to Frolic Lane for a nightcap.

Then head back to Warrnambool Retreat for a relaxing soak in the deep bath or a chill by the fire for a cosy night in.

Day Two: Local Flavours & Hidden Gems

Start your day slow with brunch at Fishtales Café, then explore the town with a little bit of retail therapy along Liebig Street, maybe even a deep dive into Timor Street Market if you love a good treasure hunt.

If you’re up for a short drive, head to Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, a dormant volcano filled with native wildlife and scenic trails. Continue your food tour and on your way back, stop at Kermond’s Hamburgers - a Warrnambool icon, for a tasty burger and milkshake.

Get ready for maximum relaxation at Deep Blue Hot Springs, so many spaces to explre.

Spend the afternoon or evening relaxing in the natural geothermal waters The Deep Blue Hot Springs. Fifteen mineral-rich rock pools, a wellness area which includes bubbling springs, waterfalls, and sensory caves. Our favourite time is the twilight (no kids allowed).

The perfect finale to your coastal getaway.
